Day 3 (10/25/) continues on Kilimanjaro.
Finding our path...
...into the fog. :-/
Our gorgeous day of sunshine turned to fog, cold, rain & HAIL. :-(
It was discouraging for me. :-( I love sunshine!
Even so we made the best of it, learned to laugh it off and took shelter when possible.
We found a cool area filled with cairns.
Rock stacking is good for the soul so we made our own creation. :-)
Everyone was feeling pretty good here at 14,600 feet. It was the highest elevation we've ever climbed. Higher than all the 14ers in Colorado or Mt. Whitney in California. Wahoo!!
We hiked down from 14,600 feet to our camp at 13,800 ft. There we were happy to find Nestor ready to serve hot soup, tea, veggies, carbs & protein.
Thanks again to our amazing cook, Simon! And thank you, Nestor for that smile that always makes us happy.
Good night, Day 3.
Sleeping to the drip, drip...raindrops on our tent.
With every post I marvel at what you were able to do...you and Bob amaze us!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen. We didn't feel so amazing compared to our heroes...the porters. :-) :-)
