So Ruth, Martin, Bob & I went to the Phoenix Botanical Garden when they were here. I took a few pics with my iPhone that day but Martin took many photos with his good camera. Enjoy some of his pics!

To those who have made the ultimate sacrifice we salute you and remember. Thank you for your service. Freedom is not free.

On this Memorial Day we think about a lot. It can be a heavy day & yet it's a celebratory day when we're able to enjoy our family, friends & do just what we want. I sure miss my dad and want to post this photo of him. He is so young here! Thank you, dad for your service to our country & love to your family. Always wishing you were still around. Thankful for wonderful memories. Happy Memorial Day!

Have you ever seen this photo on an Arizona postcard? It's a oldie but a goodie. Yikes!

Well this happened in our Ahwatukee neighborhood today. I guess it really does happen! It took down a power line & a brick wall. Yikes again! Only in Arizona.

Curious George (aka Harley) found a Horny Toad tonight!

Horny wasn't too far from our house.

"Sniff...don't bite, Harley!" 

Harley was gentle and very intrigued with the funny little lizard.

We've heard Horny Toads used to be seen often but not anymore. We've only seen 5 in all the years we've lived here. Horny Toads bring good luck (though you're supposed to rub it's belly...we didn't). We still think good luck will come our way since Harley gave him a lick. :-)

Yesterday; breakfast by the pool.

Today; breakfast by the pool.

Both days; swimming in the pool.

With the weather this HOT (105 degrees) we had to be under the shade of the umbrellas, in the water or indoors.

So we took Martin & Ruth shopping to all the nicest places like Floor & Decor. LOL. :-)

Martin & Ruth actually enjoyed seeing this store because there's nothing like it in Australia. And since Martin does tile work as a multi-talented handyman he appreciated the wide selection of tile.

It is a BIG place! After Floor & Decor we hit an indoor shopping mall, an outlet mall & a few other places in between. Martin & Ruth were pretty happy with the purchases made throughout their vacation; souvenirs as well as clothing.

They only had to borrow 1 duffle bag to get everything home. :-) Off they go...1st to San Francisco and then to Sydney. 19 hours of airline travel - Ouch!  Many thanks to Martin & Ruth for making the long journey to see Weldon, Sara Beth & us! Great memories!

Love these 2 friends from near & far!

Martin from Sydney, Australia & Weldon from Fountain Hills, Arizona.

We got the whole gang together for Martin & Ruth's last night in the USA. Tomorrow they fly back to OZ. Sara Beth, Ruth, Weldon, Martin, Me, Bob

We all went out to an amazing dinner at Capital Grille in Scottsdale. Thank you, Weldon for treating us all!! This restaurant ranks up there as the best of the best & it was. From oysters on the 1/2 shell for appetizers (only Ruth & I had those :-), to the entree's of steak & fish. I loved my Sea Bass! Everyone topped off their meal with Creme' Brûlée. Mmmmm!

In case you wanted a closer look at this huge, juicy, delicious steak. Lol. Martin was very happy with his choice!

We enjoyed hearing about Martin & Ruth's driving tour that took them to some beautiful places in AZ, Utah & New Mexico. Looking forward to sharing some of those pics when Martin e-mails us some favorites. I think the whole USA trip was a good one for them...highlighted by time spent with special friends!
