Morning around the Mummy.
Mummy Mountain.
Tempe Arts Bridge.
It's been great to have Bob home all week. We've biked on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday & today!
Lifetime riders in front of a Tempe mural.
I always stop for flower photos. :-)

Our 5:30am mountain bikers.
Happy Fri-YAY!

PS: Impressed I was able to talk Brian & Bob into being the "Y"'s for my cheesy pic. :-)

This dog is begging to be packed in our duffle bag. She doesn't understand why she can't go to Africa too. Only 19 days away...oh dear!
Different subject; succulents.
I love them. They're cool look'n plants. Lovely indoors or outside.
Just planted these yesterday. They're fake but look real to me. What do you think?

Our morning track workout.
That's not me or Abbie but we were there running around that track while watching the beautiful sunrise.
Fun for Abbie & I to meet at 5:30am & be motivated by Coach Susan & the others.
Here is Susan's group of early runners. Find us? :-)

Test driving my Kilimanjaro boots. :-)
Bob loves his boots. I have been a little wary of mine just walking around the house. So I put duct tape on the bottom to do a short hike. Felt pretty good...phew.
PS: Lov'n the cool morning & evening temps. Fall in Phoenix is lovely.

I'm dog-tired! Using caffeine & chocolate to keep my Monday productive. Looks like Harley needs a little caffeine too. Lol. :-) No chocolate for her though. :-/

Putting together my African Safari outfit! What do you guys think?
Hoping to blend in with the zebras. LOL. ;-)
The trench coat is for the wild animal after party!
Footwear: Kilimanjaro hiking boots & thermal socks.
Crazy that all this zebra print clothing was found in my closet.
Now to see if any of it will actually make the cut to travel to Africa.

Happy Fri-YAY!
Happy 1st day of Fall.
Have a happy weekend y'all.
:-)

It's been that kind of day (actually that kind of week). :-/ I had to call on Merlot for a soiree of one. Party of two if you count Harley.
Party of eight if you count the snakes in the bowl. Anyway...back to Merlot.
PS: Like the whale of a wine bottle stopper?

Bob's layovers have been very interesting this week. 1st a summit of Pike's Peak on a Colorado Springs work trip. And now he's taking in a baseball game! This was last night in Baltimore, MD. Orioles vs Red Sox.
Being on the road (or in the sky) for work isn't always so glamorous but it does come with some great perk...like this free stocking hat they handed out at the game.
Bob & the captain had a great time. I don't have a favorite baseball team but if you're a fan of the Red Sox...they won. Congrats!

I found the top of my desk again! I knew it was under there somewhere. My cleaning buddy was helpful again today...thanks, Four-0-Nine!
What's not helpful is putting the mess from my desk on the floor. My next project. :-/
And the project after that: sorting out these tangled cords. Yikes...that's Bob's project. ;-)

9-18-17

A few more photos from Bob & Scott's hike yesterday...
Not long after their 5:50am start... heading up through the pine trees.
And Aspens.
Breaking above tree line to a beautiful sky & low clouds.
Buddies.
I remember this trail well from 2013 but it wasn't this cold (I was in shorts then).
It's a beautiful trail. Scott & Bob had some awesome clouds to enjoy!
Looking like real mountain men.
This area is called Devil's Playground.
Neat section when the trail crosses over the paved road. Also a bit weird as you say to yourself..."You mean we could have driven to the top?!" LOL
 Nice shot.
 Nearing the summit.

These 2 pics of icicles on the rocks tells me 1 thing: BRRRRRR!
Bob & Scott are tougher than those icicles...
VICTORY!
 Pike's Peak Summit.
14,115 ft.
You Made It!

Bob & Scotty made it!
Pike's Peak
14,115 ft.
August 17, 2017
Check out that blanket of clouds! Pretty cool.
What else was pretty cool (or should I say COLD) was the weather.
Click on this photo to enlarge and then zoom in on those icicles. BRRRRR! Bob said it was 15 degrees with wind chill.
I'm so proud of Bob & Scott for leaving the airport hotel at 4:30am to get hiking by 6am. They made great time (14 miles round trip) through trees, up steep slopes, & over rocky ridges in freezing conditions. This is #24 14er for Bob!
This is #2 14er for Scott. Congrats, Scott & thanks for doing this crazy adventure with Bob!
I like this photo Bob snapped of the tram just outside the lodge. That' the funny thing about reaching the top of Pike's Peak...you have the lodge, tram & a large number of people just hanging out. As a hiker you've spent hours on a trail in solitude to get there. It's a unique 14er experience for sure.
Back in warm Arizona I followed Bob's trek in LIVE time. Our new Garmin SOS device is able to send a link to family & friends who would like to see your progress. It was both exciting & comforting to see that blue line moving along the route today. It's also comforting as the hiker to have that emergency button available if injuries required emergency rescue (the device works anywhere).

Bob & Scott made it back to their car (6 hr hike), drove an hour back to Colorado Springs & had enough time to enjoy a BBQ lunch before Bob showered & left on his work flight. Nice.
