10/25/17 (Day 3) on Kilimanjaro...
We woke to clear skies & soon a beautiful sunrise lit up Kilimanjaro. We were ALL so happy!
Finally we could lay our wet shoes, jackets & other items out in the sun to dry a bit. Plus those solar rays helped warm up my inner body which was having a hard time with the cold & wet from days 1 & 2.
Happy campers at breakfast! Thank you Simon.
Check out our view from our dining tent. The most perfectly framed shot of Kilimanjaro. We were giddy.
After breakfast our guys gathered to sing us some songs. They have great voices & were mov'n, groove'n & lifting everyone's spirits.
And then there was dancing! I had so much fun twirl'n & being silly with our crew.
I'll be sure to post the singing & dancing video later. :-)
Our 1st group shot. Yay!
Did I mention that we had 17 porters, 3 guides and 1 cook in our crew. It's crazy how many people it takes to support 5 hikers. Wow!
And every time our porters walked by us on the trail we cheered, high fived them & stood in awe.
The kindness extended from everyone was also amazing. The porters (while carrying their heavy bags) would encourage US & tell us that WE were doing great. :-/ Touching.
And so we continued along our trek on day 3. It was such a pretty day as we walked closer to the top of Kili.
Step by step.
Taking a break & Bob standing by the sign that says "Mountain Cycling Route." We have heard about some people BIKING Kilimanjaro. Those who have need to hike their bike up MUCH of the trail but they are able to cycle down most of the trail. Maybe that will be our next adventure. hahaha.
African lizard telling us to go this way. Tomorrow I'll post the rest of our Day 3 on Kilimanjaro.
What a day and what the porters are able to carry especially on their heads...they must have very strong necks...beautiful pics!
ReplyDeleteYes...they are incredibly strong!! Respect!
