Rod's visitation was lovely...so many people came by to see Kathy, the kids & family on Monday evening (Dec 12th). There was a nice photo video playing & tables with some of Rod's favorite posters, pictures, & items were displayed. It was a special walk down memory lane with things that meant so much to Rod. Thankful for visits with relatives & friends on this night. The funeral was 10am on Tuesday, Dec 13th. This service was truly beautiful...gorgeous flowers, meaningful songs, & talks by Robby (Rod's oldest son) & Jan (Rod's friend & past BB star. Jan now coaches the women's BB team at The Univ. of Iowa). The pastor's message was touching too. Lunch was served afterwards providing another opportunity to spend time with everyone & remember Rod.
Mom came to both gatherings & she will sure miss, Rod. Rod was so great to her...visiting mom often. As hard as it is to say good-bye to Rod & sad that I can't call him up or have him visit us in Arizona... I do feel peace with where he was at in his life & the way he reached out to me & so many. Rod had a strong faith in God! He was happy & at peace too...you can't ask for more.
I know you and Rod's family rejoice in the fact that he came back to his faith...I'm sure that was a great comfort to him and his family in his final days...it was nice that your mother was able to attend both gatherings.
ReplyDeleteFor sure & so thankful.
