More peace on Pukaki...
The reflections across this lake were mesmerizing!
After we left this spot on the south end of the lake...
we jumped in our car & drove up the west shoreline to see more.
Lake Pukaki is 69 sq miles. BTW: Bob did a great job driving our vacation from the right side of the car!
As we drove further north the water turned an incredible baby blue hue. This color is due to the rock flour, limestone & mineral sediments from Tasman glacier waters feeding into the lake.
We made many stops en route to Mt. Cook National Park to take photos like this.
I found out that Lake Pukaki was the location for the famous "Lake Town" seen in the movies "Lord of the Rings" & "The Hobbit Trilogies".
In fact movie makers had the most extensive outdoor sets for these movies constructed along the shores of Lake Pukaki. Now I want to rent the movies!
Walking in a dream world. Such a lovely moment.
We have really enjoyed the pictures you have shared...this lake is really beautiful...I can see you would want to take 100's of pictures!
