Me: Recap of our 1st full day in NYC (9/8) …
Bob & I got up very early to attend the taping of The Kelly & Michael Show. I had gotten free tickets on-line weeks before our trip but even with tickets it was advised to get there early to get a good seat. We arrived by 6am & were 1st behind the VIP guests. :-) I was excited when we were seated in the 2nd row just 5 seats from the center aisle.
I watch Kelly & Michael regularly so it was fun to see the show LIVE along with all the behind the scenes stuff. Plus we saw some great guest interviews! On top of that I was selected as the Travel Trivia Dancer!!!!! It was CRAZY so I'll give a whole post to that experience later as well as recap the celebrities we saw. In the above photo you can see the set with Kelly, Michael, Gelman (the producer with his hands up) and me to the right of Gelman doing my dance for Travel Trivia. LOL. :-) UPDATE: I posted the videos on the blog post January 16, 2017.
After the show we grabbed a Citibike. These bikes made our trip so much better; allowing us to get around the city easier & faster than walking, using a taxi or riding the subway. It was awesome! And it was cheap (about $5 a day - what a cool system)!
Here we are cruising the streets of New York!!
Halal Brothers food cart was recommended by a friend. Chicken & rice dish was yummy!
We biked through Central Park.
We watched the rowers at the Central Park Boat House lake.
It was a record hot day in NYC so after getting all sweaty we looked for an air conditioned building.
Decided on Bloomingdales & toured the designer dresses floor. I found a pair of shoes I liked…but Bob said "NO" when he saw the $1,400 price tag. :-(
The middle dress was the one Kelly wore on today's show. Wonder if Bloomingdales provides her wardrobe & then features it in the store the same day? Tag on dress; $600.
After Bloomingdales we continued checking off some NYC sights including the corner where the famous subway grate photo of Marilyn Monroe was taken. I don't have the pose down nor the right attire but here I am standing at that spot.
Here's one of those famous Marilyn Monroe photos. :-)
Bob & I enjoyed a low key evening by taking a city lights cruise around the lower part of Manhattan Island. One World Trade Center rising high above the sky scrapers.
It was pretty with so many buildings glowing.
Up close to the Statue of Liberty. Lovely!
Around the south side of Manhattan Island.
And up the east side under the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a beautiful way to top off a hectic but super fun day in New York City! This may be the city that never sleeps but after the cruise we went right back to the hotel to sleep!
High point of your trip for us was seeing you dance on Kelly and Michael show!!! Thanks for sharing your memories of NYC
