9-11-15

One World Trade Center

May We Never Forget
The wall on Fire Station 10 near the One World Trade Center.
Hard to believe it's been 14 years since that horrible attack on our nation. Us, like so many, remember that day and exactly where we were. I can't imagine what it was like for those in New York City when the Trade Towers were hit & collapsed. The above photo shows 1 of 2 reflecting pools that are now where The Twin Towers were.
Each reflecting pool has the names engraved of every victim from that day. Nearly 3000 lost their lives in NYC, Washington DC, and Pennsylvania.
The rebuilding of this area is remarkable. Beyond the reflecting pools is a large abstract sculpture of a white dove. It's still being constructed.
Also next to the reflecting pools is the One World Trade Center. It's a remarkable building which is often referred to as the Freedom Tower. It was special to be in NYC on 9/11 with many memorial events going on around the city.
While we were in the city we toured the 9/11 Museum. It was well done and left a huge impact on us. It's hard to describe the details and the displays that shed light on just what it was like here on that day. It also documented how well the city responded during the attack and after (not just that day but in days, months & years to come). NYC came together, took care of each other and then rebuilt. The above flag is one of the largest flags that flew above ground zero. It was also used at many of the memorial services and it traveled across the country too. It's on display in the museum.
We ALL were affected in some way on that day & it changed this country. Special prayers to those that lost their lives and their family & friends who miss them dearly.
May We Never Forget.

  1. We would love to go back NYC to see this memorial....we were there after 9/11 and saw the results of that day....did you go into the small church across the street...when we were there they had many pictures of the destruction...this church was used as a first aid station.

  2. We didn't get to that church. Wasn't aware of that…I wish we had. The museum is really well done. Hopefully you can get there sometime.
