Me: We did a familiar local hike today; Quartz Peak!
Namaste ;-)
Bob & I have done Quartz Peak a good number of times over the years. Even though it's a local valley hike, it's hard to get to. 1.5 hours from our house & driving on some sandy jeep roads keeps crowds away. That & the heat = not seeing anyone on the trail today.
It was our friend, Nathan's idea to do the hike since he's always wanted to hike Quartz Peak. We were happy to make it a group outing! Glad we left the house at 5am to get to the TH by 6:30am. 3. 5 hours round trip hike. 2,580 ft. elevation again & a 95 degree morning. It was worth the effort to see the peak with the white quartz boulders!!
PS: Nathan is training for his FIRST Coloraado 14er NEXT week! We are excited for him as he'll be hiking Torreys & Grays Peaks on September 11th (his birthday even)! We had him hold a sign on Quartz Peak today as practice for his 14'er summit photos. LOL. :-) Just another 10,000 feet and you'll be standing on some of the highest mountains in Colorado. Good luck, Nate!
WOW....beautiful pics....love the quartz rocks....NAMASTE!!!
