Me: Recap of our hike to North Eolus & Mount Eolus.
August 14, 2015…
I wonder if the Chicago Basin is the"Mountain Goat Capital of the World"? It certainly seemed that way when we reached Twin Lakes & were greeted by 20 mountain goats grazing, playing & hanging out.
It was a glorious morning!
 Majestic.
Jenn watching the mamas, papas & baby goats.
We were just a little excited!!!! :-0
Check out the two on the left playing by ramming their horns together.
Love this pic!
We drug ourselves away from the goats & continued on our hike. We had over 3,000 feet to climb today. Yay for blue skies ahead!
We reached the top of North Eolus!!
14,039 ft.
Bob pointing to our next summit; Mount Eolus.
We down climbed and headed for the catwalk traverse.
This is the catwalk. We had to carefully walk across that ridge & up a steep bolder route to the summit. It's not as hard as it looks but it's not easy either.
Made it. Nice job, John!
Nice job, Jenn!
14,084 ft!
Amazing views!
We could even see Mt. Sneffels & Mt. Wilson to the north.
Um, that's a long ways down. :-/
Nice spot for a nap?
Don't let Rich roll over, Jenn! :-/
14'er naps are contagious.
Sorry for so many photos…I even narrowed them down.
We hung out for a while & then headed down.
Back across the cat walk.
Yellow wildflowers covered the mountains.
August is a beautiful time of year to hike in Colorado!
Near Twin Lakes @ 12,500 ft were more mountain goats.
I love this photo of the goats in a row. Lovely!
We had snacks at Twin Lakes and Rich rested. He wasn't feeling the best with a headache lingering. No fun.
Another 1.5 miles down to our campsite.
We were all hungry! More freeze-dried food, a bath in the creek & we felt like a million bucks. ;-)
This guy hung around our campsite this evening as did a few cute deer. We felt like we were camping in a zoo. Another great day!

  2. I think they are fairly tame (probably from seeing so many hikers and not having anyone threaten them). Even so we were mindful that they are wild animals and with baby mountain goats around we didn't' want a mama to feel we were too close.
