Me: Today was our BIG hiking day of Buckskin Gulch (the longest slot canyon in the world!). Abbie & Mike drove up from Phoenix to do this adventure with us! The 5 of us had so much fun but it was also one of the longest & mentally tough hikes we've done.
The whole trek was 23 miles. The narrow slot of Buckskin Gulch is 13.5 miles of scenery like this…WOW! We were smiling for several hours! But add another 10 miles of canyon hiking in deep sand plus some water to trudge through. By the time we reached the car our smiles turned upside down…it was 9 hours of hiking! Collectively we had wet aching feet, some blisters, exhausted legs, swollen knee, swollen fingers and fatigue. Despite the pains…it really was worth it (we're just not doing it again). :-) I'll be posting more pics of this day later this week too.
