Johnson (biking)

Biking with Johnson in Tanzania!
Johnson had August 8th off from college finals so we rented bikes & went on a 3 hour ride outside Moshi.
Johnson hasn't been on a bike for 5 years but he did great!
And you know Bob and I love cycling so this was a really fun time together.
Happy that we hired Roy to be our guide.
Roy is a strong rider and loves his guiding job with Kili Bike Adventures.
We rode by fields and fields of sugar cane.
And perfectly planted rice fields.
We rode through a lush green jungle too.
Of course I had to have a photo session at this cool old railroad station.
Love this backdrop. Love this pic of Johnson.
Big smiles from my 2 favorite guys.
LOVE!
After we finished our bike tour & 50 photos ;-) ...
we met Johnson's girlfriend for lunch in town.
This is Winnie & she is lovely! So glad we had this time to visit together.
Winnie also grew up in the village of Marangu.
Winnie is a sophomore in college but at a different university several hours away in the city of Dodoma, Tanzania.
We gave Winnie a new watch. She loved it and it looks so pretty on her.
Bob displaying his old watch, hahaha.
Johnson had some gifts to open too. He likes his Ford hat from his Meneely grandparents. Thank you Pat & Bob... I know Johnson wears his hat often!
Johnson's favorite football team is Manchester United and his favorite player is POGBA.
This Pogba jersey was our congratulations gift to Johnson for finishing his 1st year of college with outstanding grades! Way to go Johnson!!
Topped off the day with a ride in a Tuk-Tuk. These little taxis are everywhere in Moshi Town. It was a fun ride back to our hotel. Tomorrow we get to go with Johnson to his home in Marangu (2 hours away). We'll get to meet his grandparents and many other family & friends from his village. We're excited!!!
