4-27-17

Yesterday Susan & I went plant shopping at Lowe's. We had an idea to buy 3 rose trees. One to honor my dad, a 2nd rose tree to honor my brother, Rod and a 3rd rose tree to honor my mom & her special visit to AZ for my birthday.
Susan & Bob worked hard planting them in the perfect spots. Below is the beautiful result.
I LOVE them so much!
Pink (Angel Face Rose) for my dad, red (Trumpeter Rose) for my mom, yellow (Sunsprite Rose) for my brother. Left of the pink rose tree is a new cactus, my birthday gift from Susan.
It too is beautiful & today it bloomed incredible hot pink and yellow flowers.
I've never seen these blooms from a cactus before (usually it's a big white flower or small yellow, fuschia or orange). We were pretty excited when we saw it at Lowe's.
Thank you, honey for making this day so special. Bob has planted rose bushes for my birthday before but this is a first for a rose tree. And now THREE!
I will always remember my 50th; it was happy & it was emotional. I wasn't sad to turn 50 but I did cry thinking of this time with mom & having to say good-bye as she flew back to Iowa. Mom did really well for the week she was here but it was difficult. So hard to be dependent on everyone around you & at the same time realize the struggle with memory & more. It's sad for me. She's my mom. I have a heavy heart & yet a grateful heart.
