Yesterday Bob & I hiked up La Plata Peak. It's the mountain in the far distance (middle of pic). Took this shot from the top of Independence Pass as we drove back to Aspen after our trek.
Here's our summit shot!
La Plata Peak

August 11, 2016
We started at 5:30am & it was a cold climb. Not typical to wear all our warm gear on the way up.
Bob & I were the only Marmoteers on today's peak. We couldn't convince our Aspen friends to drive at 4am to do this 14er. haha! :-)
Took some fish eye shots.
A shoulder stand pic! Bob was a great sport! :-)
And we spent time sharing memories about my dad. It really was a God moment when we saw 3 beautiful butterflies on our hike!
Bob posing with a cairn; the very helpful trail markers.
And down we go.
Many switchbacks later we end up back at the car with tired legs. Looking forward to a couple rest days! Today's stats: 9.5 miles. 4,200 ft of climbing. 6 hours on the mountain.
Another beautiful day...perfect way to remember your Dad...love the pics!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen!! :-)
