Martin: All the bits we need to make up a pair of earrings for Daniel's girlfriend, Amy. It's her 16th birthday.

Me: Living room valances are up! I had a local gal help me with the sewing and James installed them. It was hard to get a good photo shooting into the light but you get the idea. I really like them!

Each valance has clear hanging beads across the bottom. Kinda fun.

The valences add some coziness to the living room!

Fabric was on clearance ($15) + inexpensive seamstress = happy me (& Bob). :-)

I had given up on finding a kitchen backsplash and was no longer looking. But yesterday in Lowe's I spotted this one, brought it home and I think it's good.

The colored tiles go well with the granite counter.

Here's a pic from the package showing a light grout with the tiles. I like that the tiles have character and aren't perfectly square. Pending Bob's approval this might be the one!
