11-23-17

Arrived at Ngorongoro Crater on November 3rd.
After visiting the Masai village earlier in the afternoon we drove a little further to the rim of Ngorongoro Crater.
An expansive plain far below full of African animals.
Tonight we stayed on the rim. This was the view from our room.
LOVELY!
And this was our lodge...AMAZING & funky (I love funky). :-)
The lodge is perched on the rim.
Pretty cool spot so we grabbed a hot tea & sat on the patio.
A few minutes later one of our hosts came out to search for a rhino through this mega-telescope.
And guess what...he found TWO!!!! A mommy rhino & her baby!
This would be the only sighting of a rhino on our 4 day safari. But we can count it! :-)
We have now seen the big 5 (Safari royalty): The African lion, leopard, elephant, cape buffalo and rhino. YAY!
Tomorrow the 4 of us will drive down inside the crater to see more African animals. Another exciting day ahead! Good night from the rim.
