I interrupt our cool 14er photos to show you a few pics of my cool dad...
Me, dad & my sister, Carol.
We used to breed St. Bernards when I was young. Cute rollie pollie pups!
My first year in Arizona when my parents came to visit. I had this old boat (my Dad & I towed it from IA to AZ. It was the boat we took to the lake as a kid to waterski. Once I planned to stay in Arizona I was pretty insistent that I needed that boat in Arizona to water ski. Dad agreed. :-) Trouble was it was the size of a large bathtub & could only handle the bigger Arizona lakes for about a year. Good memories!
Dad looking on with joy. I love remembering our wedding day. It's hard to take a farmer out of Iowa but he soaked in this weekend...he was proud, fun, & adventurous the whole time. What a gift! I am so happy Bob knew my dad for at least 2 years.
It makes me happy that my dad met my in-laws. This was our wedding rehearsal dinner at The Beacon in Tahoe. It's our favorite Tahoe restaurant of course.

It was 17 years ago today (August 11th, 2000) that my dad passed away. An accident that takes someone suddenly without the chance to say good-bye is devastating. It feels unfair & yet there are enormous things to be grateful for. I had a childhood full of love & teaching from my dad (& mom). He was always a support & friend while I was an adult. He had humble faith, honesty & character that shined brightly - that will remain etched in my mind. Thank you, Dad. I miss you. I love you.
