6-30-17

Last night after dinner at The Beacon. Thank you, Pat & Bob for treating... it was a belated anniversary celebration for Pat & Bob (June 20th) and an early anniversary dinner for us (August 28th). I always mention that we had our rehearsal dinner at The Beacon 18 years ago & we took wedding photos on this pier.
This morning the 4 of us (& dogs) drove over Kingsbury Grade to the town of Genoa. Genoa is the oldest settlement in Nevada. This is the oldest "thirst parlor" established in 1853!
That bar was funky inside; filled with original art, chandeliers & this old wood bar. Also original was that huge mirror behind the guys. It's from the early 40's, shipped from Scotland to San Francisco & then transported to Genoa via covered wagon. It is thick & is a Diamond Dust mirror (sparkles like diamond dust in the light).
We took a tour of this Pony Express stop (very interesting). Before the bar & Pony Express we did some antique shopping, ate a delicious lunch at the local deli & later had cheese, wine & pie. A really good day! I'll tell you about a couple major mishaps later...but the good news is all ended well. :-)

Back at the cabin Harley found her favorite spot in the sun.
Bob & I found ours. The double hammock works well (kinda - it's more comfy with 1 person). :-)
Pretty butterflies were hanging out by the cabin. Not sure what plant this is but it smelled lovely and attracted the butterflies. Peace out.

  1. Sounds like you had a perfect day with Bob's parents...they say if you see butterflies it means some one from heaven is visiting you...the day of my sister-in-law's funeral there were a lot of butterflies at my brother's house...Sandy was saying HI!!!

  2. I definitely agree with the butterflies at the right moment...someone saying hello. I think I've told you at my Dad's funeral & on the farm there were so many butterflies!! They always come around at the right time.
