Me: (4/8) Seattle Day #1...
I landed at 10am & checked into Holiday Inn. By noon I was on the Link Transit train to downtown. I walked to Pike Market Place; a top Seattle tourist attraction.
The first thing I noticed were the flowers…thousands of flowers for sale.
Do they really sell all these?!
The brilliant colors were beautiful!
The farmer's vegetable stands were colorful too.
Bountiful fruit & veggies.
There were fish stands with the famous flying fish (workers throwing fish to the fish-butcher when you ordered).
Hey, stop look'n at me!! :-)
As soon as I came across an Oyster Bar I had to have some. I LOVE oysters on the 1/2 shell. Mmmm, Mmmmm, GOOD! PS: There were a lot of crafts & artists at the market too but I seemed to only take photos of the flowers & food. :-)
It was such a beautiful day so I walked from the market to the waterfront and then a mile north along the Pugut Sound to Sculpture Park. This is an abstract bird with a view of the Space Needle.
I wasn't the only one enjoying the sun. There were chairs to the right of the sculpture where people were soaking up the rays. They had a nice water view too.
And this is different; a giant head sculpture. The face is more distinct during sunset.
This tree is also a sculpture - though the bird sitting on the top may think it's real.
Picture perfect day.
City beach at Myrtle Edwards Park.
From Sculpture Park I headed east. I wanted to get a closer look at The Needle.
There it is! Tomorrow Bob and I are going to the top!
After a little more walking plus a visit to the Chihuly exhibit I took the train back to the airport to meet Bob. It was a great day finding my way around some Seattle sights. I'm looking forward to tomorrow when Bob & I can do some more!
You really got around Seattle......how did you know your way around so well???? As always really love the pics you took, but don't think I would have fought you for the oysters on a half shell....can't wait to see what more you and Bob did!
ReplyDeleteI usually don't mind trying to navigate in a city. Kinda fun!! You could do it, Karen!
