Me: From stepping in gum to "Tip Toe-ing through the Tulips"!
We drove 1 hour north of Seattle on April 10th to see THIS!
Fields & fields of tulips. It's the Sagit Valley Tulip Festival!
We got lucky to see a flyer in our hotel elevator on April 9th that the Tulip Festival happens in April each year. It's about a two week window when the tulips peak & we were within that time. We couldn't pass up over a thousand acres of flowers!
I love RED!
But I also love YELLOW!
I love EVERY tulip color!
We stopped at three different tulip farms. The largest one being the Roozengaard Farm. Mr. Roozengaard, originally a tulip farmer in Holland, immigrated to Washington & starting farming tulips on 5 acres. The Roozengaard family now farms over 2,000 acres. Since his passing his children & grandchildren have carried on the family tradition.
PS: Did you see Bob in the above pic?
The Roozengaard Farm even had a windmill which reminded me of the windmill in my hometown, Elk Horn, Iowa. Though we weren't tulip farmers - haha!
The Roozengaard's had a wonderful garden area with interesting flower designs.
Lovely!
And some very unique shapes too. Gorgeous!
And you probably are too!
Even so…I'll be sharing more tulip photos tomorrow. Lol.
I can't imagine that many tulips....do they ship them, and if they do how do they keep them alive and blooming????
ReplyDeleteThey do ship them and I believe that's where the Seattle Pike Market Place gets all their flowers. We should have asked more questions because I really don't know!!! :-/ You can buy the tulip bulbs for your favorite kind and color of tulip and a lot of other flowers. They have daffodil fields too but they peaked in March so were already gone.
