Me: Jens Voigt Day.
AKA: Bob's Birthday! :-)
Bob loves cycling and he enjoys following the sport on TV.
Jens Voigt is his favorite pro rider. So when Bob got to bike on his birthday with Jens Voigt it made his day (or year)!! :-)
It made my day too. Jens Voigt is a funny guy, really chatty and a heck of a rider. If you get a chance, google his accomplishments. Much of what he's famous for are some witty interview comments like "Shut Up Legs!" which is what he tells his legs when they are screaming in pain during a race. ha!
Bob, Anna and I were lucky enough to ride with Jens Voigt, Andy Schleck and Frank Schleck thanks to Troy. Troy and his father hosted the pros and a few of their traveling crew at their home for lunch (after they had been in Reno for a charity ride). After a snack we joined the pros on their training ride along the lake. That was followed up with a meal at the beach house, hanging out and taking the Europeans on a fun boat ride.
Ride along the lake. I'm drafting Jens (um, that's cool).
Riding and chatting with Frank Schleck. Ahead of me is Anna, next to Andy Schleck. Bob is riding and taking the photo (that's not easy).
Top of Spooner Pass. Jens, Andy, Frank, Christian, Anna, Tillio, Justin and Bob.
Bob and Jens' bike.
Just one more photo, please!
Christian, Jens, Andy, Frank and Troy telling race stories after lunch. Fun to hear.
Boating time. These boys need to eat!
Franz (the charity ride organizer) and Bob soaking up the rays.
Fast driving Troy and Anna.
Bob and Jens cracking up.
Had to show this photo of Frank and I. Anna's comment, "He just looks hungry". :-)
Gorgeous Day! All grins.
Back at the beach house.
Me, Anna, Bob, Troy.
A nice dinner on the deck and then a surprise; a birthday cake for Bob and Corin (Justin's wife)...both celebrating an August 15th day.
Can't thank Troy and his dad enough. They have been so gracious and generous and planned such fun times for us and so many of their friends. Especially today!
Another day in paradise...every time I see the shadow pic I think of Sedona...we started something. Does Bob have to go back to work tomorrow???
ReplyDeleteHa, I think of that Sedona photo when I take the shadow pics too. Sedona was another fun adventure with you two. I just dropped Bob off at the Reno airport (8/19) and am now sitting at a Starbucks to catch up on the blog and e-mails. Harley is with me. :-)
