Me: Today was mostly a travel day, leaving Beijing and arriving into Xi'an around 4pm. The most astounding (and depressing) thing was the pollution. It looks like heavy fog. Because of Xi'an's location, the coal they burn and the huge population (not much smaller than Beijing) the air quality is extremely bad. Makes me sad. :-(
Tried to capture the craziness of traffic which to us has no rhyme or reason. Bikers, pedestrians, cars and busses intertwine within inches of each other through intersections and busy streets (yet, no accidents or frustration). This could never happen in America. It's very impressive!
Tonight we enjoyed a delicious dumpling banquet. The dumplings kept coming (in various shapes and colors) and we kept eating.
Dinner was followed up with a Tang Dynasty Show.
The costumes reminded you of a Vegas show but that is how it was in China then. Beautiful colors, accessories, dancing and music.
It was very enjoyable!
Jane - Sounds like you had a enjoyable day...to bad about the pollution....I grew up with a coal furnace so know how that is. The show looks fabulous. Thanks sharing your trip.
