The Fabulous Five!
Olivia, Rich and Heather arrived at the cabin yesterday. We prepped our backpacks and went out to eat at The Beacon last night. It was a beautiful evening to discuss our next 3 days of backpacking on the Pacific Crest Trail.
We're all pretty excited about it... can ya tell!?? LOL!

Pacific Crest Trail
The 5 of us entered the PCT at Echo Lakes. Bob and I have done part of this trail before so we knew at Echo Lake there was a water taxi available for trekkers. It would cut out the first 3 miles of hiking if we took it...
Of course we took it!!! All aboard!
Never pass up a ride in a boat... so fun!
The boat dropped us off and we put the packs on our backs.
We began hiking... UP!
Bob's pack: 37 lbs
Heather, Olivia, & Jane: 27 lbs each
Rich's pack: 24 lbs
Bob wins (or loses) for having the heaviest pack. Sorry Bob. :-(
Thank you Bob for bringing camp chairs, solar charger, and the InReach GPS. All items that added weight but would prove to be extremely helpful.
A look back at Echo Lakes.
We were all in good spirits on this blue sky day. In conversation we came up with our Team Name:
The Donner Party. Why not!?
The Donner Party continues hiking up, chatting away and having a great time.
A view of Ralston Lake. This is one of many mountain lakes we'll see or pass on our PCT route. Each lake was unique & breathtaking. Next stop: Aloha Lake for lunch & a swim. Those pics in my next post.
Did Bob have an aching back by the end of the day...boy 37 pounds...scenery is breath taking!
ReplyDeleteFeel bad Bob's pack was heavier than the rest of us... but we all agreed he's tougher than the rest of us. :-) Bob did great with a 37 lb pack. #strong The scenery was breath taking... I truly wanted to take a photo every 20 minutes. I did take a ton of pics... but not as often as I thought about it. :-)
