3/21 continued...We walked from Havasu Falls up the path & past the inviting pools of Rock Falls (above).
Just above the pools is Little Navajo Falls. Rock Falls & Little Navajo Falls were not here 11 years ago when we brought Jacey and the large group of nieces & nephews to see Havasupai. The above falls formed after the flood of 2008. That flood caused severe damage to the area as well as immediate evacuation of all campers & Supai locals.
Though the 2008 flood destroyed a beautiful falls call Navajo Falls it did form Little Navajo & Rock Falls up stream from it. These falls are gorgeous too!
Here we are swimming at Rock Falls. One of my favorite photos!
At 2:30pm we walked 2 miles back to the village, refilled our Camelbaks & put on our hiking shoes. We had a challenging 9 miles to go up hill! :-/
This crew kept a great pace with smiles on their face the whole time. We reached the rim at 5:30pm. 2.5 hours from the village!
We climbed in our car dirty & exhausted & still had a 2 hour drive to Williams where we'd get a hotel for the night. We couldn't wait for a shower & soft bed! However... the sleepless night before, the long drive from Phoenix, the big effort to do this day trek was all worth it. What great memories of this crazy adventure with Whitney & Jacey!
Looks like you had a perfect day...making memories for Jacey and his wife!
