11-13-16

Ben Lomond Summit
November 9, 2016
Queenstown, New Zealand
In addition to bungy jumping & wineries, 11/9 also included an epic hike! Bob heading up the trail towards the peak in the distance.
The trail looked out over Queenstown and LakeWakatipu.
With great views of The Remarkables mountains too (this is looking East).
To the West & further up at the saddle was this view...WOW! I thought the hills covered with yellow clumps of wild grass was very unique & pretty.
Reaching the top!
And making instant friends. :-) "Treats" is a universal language!
This is a Kea; a common New Zealand bird that loves to seek out hiker's food.
He was a pretty cool bird but we kept a close eye on our things!
I wanted a pic with the Kea but Bob was a much better Bird Whisperer. :-)
Happy in New Zealand!
We stayed at the top a while, put our jackets on for the wind & enjoyed our snacks. A picture perfect day!
This hike ranks high on our list for "Best Day Treks". It had gorgeous views in every direction, it wasn't crowded (maybe saw 5 hikers), it's hard but not too difficult, and it's in New Zealand!
