Me: One of my favorite photos from last Friday's hike (and a fav pic from our month in Tahoe)! Bob on the edge of the rocks overlooking Eagle Lake.
We had set out on this morning (7/3) to hike Mt. Tallac; the 3rd tallest peak in the Tahoe area (9,735'). However, the forecast was rainy so we decided on a different (& lower) route. We did a 7 mile loop that took us past Eagle Lake (above pic).
It also took us past more beautiful mountain flowers. The pink Alpine Shooting Stars were in abundance.
So were the pussy paws.
Not sure what these are called but they were pretty cool. :-)
The first part of the hike was damp & lush. Even some of the pine trees had moss.
Once at a higher elevation (maybe around 8,300 ft?) we had broad views of granite boulders, mountains & pine trees.
It was quite lovely & quiet with only a few others along the trail.
Me on the rocks overlooking Eagle Lake.
As we made our way back down a different trail we had some great views of Lake Tahoe, Emerald Bay, Granite Lake, Cascade Lake & Fallen Leaf Lake.
This was the Emerald Bay lookout point. We were mostly amazed at the crazy # of boats on the water. It was the start of a crowded 4th of July weekend!
WOW....more beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen! We are home in Phoenix now. Need to update the blog! How are you?!
