Me: Bob, Harley & I had a nice 4th of July. It started with me doing a 10k trail race in the morning. It was a challenging route with hills & rocks - I only fell once. :-( Seriously, I did…but was fine (the dirt was soft-ish). :-) My finish was good enough to get 2nd place in my age group. I'll take it; running is hard! I prefer two wheels underneath me.
After the run the rain came. We hung out in a cafe on the north shore of Lake Tahoe & felt bad for the crowds of people who came for a weekend of sun & lake fun. For us it was great. Mid afternoon was perfect hiking weather & we tried a new trail (Mt. Rose).
The lupines are very happy living on this mountain. Apparently there are 70 kinds of California lupines.
We also learned these yellow flowers are called Wooly Mule Ears. They are some of my favorites with the big leaves.
This 5 mile round trip trek had a lovely waterfall too. We returned to the cabin after our hike & felt quite lazy. It took a lot of self talk to get us back out to view the fireworks (but we did). It was worth the effort. Lake Tahoe puts on quite the show!
Sounds like a full day....Charlie said I made him tired just reading your captions on your days activities!!!
