Me: This morning I met my friend, Melissa at Spooner Lake Summit for a relay race.
I joined her for leg #3 of the running relay around the lake (72 miles total). Melissa had organized a team from Sacramento (where she & her family live). This is an annual Tahoe event & there were a lot of teams participating.
Our leg was 10 miles & much of it was downhill.
It also was one of the most scenic stretches. This was our view!
And it helped take my mind off running. :-)
You may think I'm catching this guy…but he just passed me. :-(
I was happy with my run; 10 miles @ an 8:45 minute mile pace. For me that's great! I'm just worried about how sore I'll be tomorrow. The downhill takes a toll on the legs.
Thanks so much, Melissa. It was so great to see you!
BTW: Melissa ran the next 10 mile leg too for a total of 20 miles. Impressive runner!
This is Jack, Melissa's son who is also an impressive runner. He had the 1/2 marathon world record for 10 year olds this year. It was broken by another 10 year old just a few weeks after Jack got it. But, wow...that is so cool. Congrats to you, Jack!
Bob & Harley were great support at the relay. Bob said all that running made him thirsty!! :-) We had a good time touring north shore after the race. A favorite stop: Garwoods.
Are you sore today??? The scenery at Tahoe is beautiful....maybe someday we'll see it....congrats on the race....the drink Bob has looks good. We had thunder and rain today (Sunday), but all it did was make it more humid!
