"These are a few of my favorite things" (name that movie?)
Specifically a few of my favorite Christmas ornaments…
Love the 1st ornament Bob made for me (1998 - our 1st Christmas together).
Since our 1st Christmas we've made several homemade ornaments. Bob cuts them out of wood and we paint them. Here's our turtle made the year we went to Kauai and swam with sea turtles (also a 1st)!
Here's the turtle ornament we bought in Maui last month to remind us of swimming with the turtles there. This little guy's cute!
In this pic (along with our Hawaiian turtle) is a blue bike helmet and a yellow sea kayak (for two activities we love). Hawaiian flip flops (we heart Hawaii), Snoopy as WWII Ace (for pilot Bob), and an orange & black stocking cap for my high school (We were the orange & black Danes).
Love these butterflies all over our tree (a reminder of my dad in Heaven). New life.
More special ornaments…
Another ornament made by Bob from 2000 (cactus w/ Santa hat). Panda Bear ornament that reminds us of our amazing trip to China with M, Rod, R & R (2012).
Our tree is filled with homemade ornaments from Bob's Wela (Grandma Muniz). Look at this cute turtle she made. You can never have too many turtles!
Painted ceramic mouse ornament from Bob's Wela, JOY ornament made by Grandma Shulse, and crocheted stocking from my Grandma Jacobsen (I believe…though I think Grandma Shulse made these kind of Christmas stockings too).
It's always fun to pull out the boxes of ornaments and decorate as each one holds a special place in our hearts. It marks a time in history that is filled with memories of places we've been or people we love.
What are a few of your favorite things?
Loved looking at your Christmas ornaments....speaking of favorites...I have one that is 51 years old....bought it from the mother of a classmate at a bake sale we had during our junior year of high school....my school colors were orange and black too....we were the Eagles....another thing we have in common!!!
