Martin: Finally collected our tickets for the trip to Spain.
Me: Woke up to heavy rain resulting in the wettest day in Phoenix history. From 2am to 10am the Phoenix area received as much as 5 inches of rain causing horrible flooding & road closures. Even now (at 5pm) parts of Mesa are being evacuated due to homes that are in standing water & have no power. Flash flood warnings are still in effect. :-(
Mid morning we drove our neighborhood to see the rain effects. This is the fairway in front of our old condo. It turned into a rapid river flowing out of South Mountain and onto the golf course carrying trees & debris.
Fairways 2, 3 & 4 filled up with water to form a HUGE lake. Bob is standing on the cart path which is disappearing into the muddy mess. The tops of trees are barely above water. Crazy.
The rain even washed up an award winning scorpion in our yard. He's the biggest we've ever seen! We put a quarter next to him for scale. Yikes!
We experienced this epic wet day with Bob's folks who flew in late last night. I was going to blame them for bringing the rain but they came from the California drought. :-(
We are so glad Pat & Bob are here (though never long enough)! After the rain stopped we got busy with projects. A trip to Home Depot for flowers & lighting supplies.
Bob & his dad rigged up a pool reel for our new solar pool heating blanket. This thing is great & will extend the time we can use our pool by months. Excited about that and how easy it is to roll up the cover when we want to swim. Thank you Bob & Bob!
Pat does all our mending projects in no time flat. So appreciative of her many talents!
AND, thank you Pat for discovering our house leak today!!! Pat went into my craft room to find the ceiling caving in from moisture. UGH! We quickly removed all that was getting wet, saved what we could (mostly ruined photos) and will now be getting a roofer out to repair the problem. James came to our immediate rescue & put a temporary fix on the leak.

Needless to say - we are ALL tired from a hectic day. Heading out for dinner & then early to bed.
