Martin: Weather report.
Me: Today we went to Leadville. This was our view driving up Independence Pass.
Bob and I set out to pre-ride Columbine;
the toughest mountain climb on the Leadville 100 course.
We made it...reaching the top at 12,500ft. :-)
Here are some pics at the summit...
This is arriving on the summit. The peak flattens out. We are on top of the world!
This is the official turn around (1/2 way) point and aid station for the race. We'll be grabbing a quick bite here during the event before biking down the mountain again.
PS: There is a story (too long to write here) about the fallen down cabin behind Bob.
We had a perfect day for our ride! Incredible views!
Heading back down Columbine. Fun ride!
BONUS: When we finished Columbine we met up with Kimo and his crew from Lifetime Fitness. One of the riders was Rebecca Rusch (3 time women's Leadville 100 champion). I got to ride and chat with her for about an hour. Rebecca's super nice and we're rooting for her to win again this year!

  2. Thanks, Karen! Can't believe it's only one week away now. Many more friends from Arizona are starting to roll into the area now. Leadville is a huge race...I'll be thrilled if I finish within 2 hours of Rebecca Rusch and the top women finishers. Excited about the event. Really hope we have decent weather. There have been a lot of afternoon thunderstorms this week.
