Martin: Younger Adrian with his big catch.
Me: This photo was from yesterday on our drive to Aspen.
Colorado is spectacular!
 Independence Pass.
(also from yesterday's drive)
 Snowmass Village.
Our friend's condo is on the mountain in this ski resort. We had a relaxing day here; slept in, did laundry, hot tubbed, caught up on e-mails, watched the Olympics, had breakfast and lunch at the condo and just enjoyed peace and quiet with time off the bike.
Around 3pm we drove into Aspen.
We walked around the quaint town.
We shopped and ate dinner.
Then returned to our condo in Snowmass to relax some more.
Nice day!

  1. The music festival should still be going on. If you walk around downtown in the evening you'll probably hear some amazing street musicians. I loved my two summers in Aspen!

  2. Almost forgot. If you want to take a cool hike go up the Ute trail in Aspen. Very cool views at the top.

  3. Thanks for the great recommendations, Rod! When we were strolling the walking streets in Aspen after dinner there were three violin players performing. They were fantastic!! Many gathering to listen. We'll look into the Ute Trail too. Any other recommendations (restaurants, shops or spots to see)?

  5. Jane - We were in Aspen in the late '80, but would love to go back....I really liked Aspen...just a special place. The scenery in CO. is breath taking...know you will love your time there. Rest up for Leadville...do you feel better??? Did you have a touch of the flu???

  7. The coat/hat came with a big price tag so we passed. :-) Cool that you toured the area here. I was just about to google Maroon Bells. I am feeling better. I don't think it was the flu, just bad car sickness I guess.

  8. Jane - i was there in the summers of 1990 and 1991. Good times. I don't remember a lot of the restaurants, and I'm sure it's changed a lot!
