Me: Bob, Harley, Mike, Abbie and I set out to hike Quartz Peak this morning. We were greeted by this cow when we arrived at the trailhead.
The temperatures were pretty nice (90's) when we started but the humidity was VERY high. No breeze and in no time we were dripping wet. We kept on hiking anyway.
Mike was excited about the awesome view.
I was too!
We reached the peak covered with white quartz, ate lunch & broke into yoga poses (ha).
We thought we were funny. Cute pose, Abbie!
Is this the tallest cactus you've ever seen?!
Look how small Mike is standing next to cactus.

Hiking the ridge back down.
Found Bob and Harley hiding out in the shade. Unfortunately Harley couldn't make it to the top today. Too hot & humid AND she had a traumatic experience with the cholla cacti. Harley got many thorns in her paws and also in her nose. :-( Poor sweet Harley - it was a hard day for her.
The Estrella Mountain Wilderness is covered with Saguaros & cholla. It's really spectacular!
We all (except Harley) had a good day!
Jane - Poor Harley...I hurt for her. I think Charlie and I will pass on this hike when we see you in October.
