Me: I do like picking out paint colors, but why is it so hard? The paint swatch never matches how the color appears on the wall. It's frustrating! So there are 6 different gold-ish colors on the wall (I painted 3 colors twice). Three are left over samples from the condo, one is from a friend, another from my sis-in-law and a new color we just bought. I have my favorite, Bob has his, Nancy & Abbie each picked one and a girlfriend stopped by and wrote her favorite up on the wall (ha). What is your choice?

The tile we have laying on the floor is our top choice for tile. It's really unique and looks like distressed wood with some interesting stone appearance mixed in. There would be 1/16 inch grout line between the tiles that would blend in nicely because of the color variation in the tile. The whole 1st floor would be this & it would be stunning, hide the dirt and go with our various furniture pieces.
Our other thought is to not lay tile and just keep the exposed concrete. We would finish the concrete with a stain or paint plus a clear coat. This could look really cool with the imperfections bringing a lot of character. We're not going to do anything right now with the floor - only gathering ideas and thinking about it. What's your opinion?
I like the one at the top right - seems like it would go well with the kitchen cabinets and whichever floor you choose. Of course, I always look to YOU for color suggestions since I'm horrible at it.
ReplyDeleteThat tile floor is insane -- LOVE it. I've also seen stained concrete that is awesome too, though. Hard choice! Is the staining process expensive? If not, you could always go that route first and see if you like it then switch to the tile if you're not happy.
Jane - Like the one on the bottom below the pic. I agree picking a color from the paint swatch is not easy. I agree with M3...depending on the cost of staining the concrete you could always do that first, and if you didn't like go with the tile. This is fun watching your home come together...what ever you choose it will be beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks, M and Karen for your input. You two picked the colors we like!! Bob's 1st choice is the top right and that's my girlfriend's first choice. My sis-in-law and Abbie likes the one below the painting in the middle and it's a tie for me between those two. They are both so similar with the bottom middle maybe slightly more subdued. I think either of those would be great!
ReplyDeleteI like how you're thinking on the floor...try the stained concrete 1st and if it doesn't come out good we then can tile. Not sure what the price of staining concrete would be. I know there is probably a bunch of prep work to get the concrete ready. I've seen many cool concrete floors in salons. Will want to check with the tile store and see how long they expect to carry this tile...I do love it and hope it's available later if we want it.
