Rock Climbing Tom's Thumb

Saturday (March 16th) the 6 of us hiked to Tom's Thumb.
Less than a month ago it was covered in snow here!
Bob & I have done this favorite hike many times but this was the 1st time for Jerome & family. It was also the 1st time for BOB to rock climb to the TOP of Tom's Thumb along with JEROME (he had the tough job of leading the rope climb). Waaaaaay cool for them to stand on top & cool for us who were watching from below.
Ashley was prepared to rock climb to the top of the thumb but because the 2 little girls were doing so well hanging out with me at the base of the thumb we decided not to push our luck testing their patience. :-)
This was me having a picnic with the 2 girls and that's Jerome standing on the top of the thumb behind us (left photo). A little dancing & singing in the right photo.
The whole hike (4 miles round trip) was so beautiful with the poppies.
Baylor, Ashley, Jerome carrying Kennley, & Bob carrying the climbing rope. Tom's Thumb in the distance.
Jerome taking it all in on top of Tom's Thumb. Love this shot.
I like this one too.
Back at the base with little climber Kennley. Mission complete.
Two Thumb's Up!
Group photo! Cheeeeeeeese!
Stop and smell the poppies. :-)

Picture Perfect Day.

  1. You really showed your Iowa family a great time...love all the pictures...the poppies are beautiful...wouldn't you love to have them bloom all summer???

  2. Yes... and now the grass is turning brown on the mountains. Poppies and African daisies are gone. Some cactus are starting their blooming period as well as the Palo Verde trees. But hot summer is just around the corner. :-(
