7 miles in and there's the Colorado River and the bridge we're gonna cross!
Video shows the nice pace of our group hiking down South Kaibab.
Great job, everyone!
Crossing the Colorado River.
Group selfie on the suspension bridge.
We walked down to the sandy shore to dip our hands in the Colorado.
Ya know... to make it official that we were here. ;-)
Arrived in Phantom Ranch while a mule train heads out.
After a snack break & water refill stop in Phantom Ranch we continue hiking. We want to beat the heat... especially through the next 6 miles of "The Box". The box is a tough section at the bottom of the canyon that can get very hot between 10am and 2pm. We entered the box before 8am so we were in great shape & on schedule. BTW: Clara counted 7 bridges that we crossed during our rim to rim hike. :-)
Crossing a small stream to do a 1 mile side trip to visit Ribbon Falls. We can't wait to see a waterfall and have a long lunch break there. Maybe a swim too. Those pics tomorrow. :-)
