This morning began with many family attending Sunday church service at St. Paul Lutheran in Atlantic, Iowa. This is the church mom attended when she and dad moved to Atlantic from their farm outside Elk Horn. We followed up Sunday service by going to Atlantic Specialty Care where mom lived these past 2 years. Our little great-nieces & nephews (& us big kids too) sang songs for the residents and nursing staff. I was tearful to see many of the wonderful nurses who cared for mom so lovingly. We had gifts for them and it was comforting to talk with several who adored mom. After the nursing home a bunch of us gathered at mom's home on Redwood Drive where we enjoyed brunch and visiting.
This afternoon family met at 3:30pm at the funeral home to share stories and memories about mom / grandma / great-grandma. Our big bunch included Sonja (mom's sister) and some cousins too.
From 5pm-7pm it was public visitation. Very touching to see many highschool classmates, past teachers, community friends, church members and relatives. It was a lovely night. I am attaching the program which will be handed out tomorrow for mom's service.

You will always have your wonderful memories of your mother...I miss my mother even after 13 years!
ReplyDeleteTime is an odd thing... especially when memories are strong for those we love and have lost. I know you loved your precious mother dearly.
