Today Emily & I went to the florist to pick out flowers for mom. These are a few that will be included in a large spray on Monday; pink and white roses along with a splash of purple and yellow. It will be beautiful. We also did some planning for Monday's service & Sunday's visitation.
This poem was in mom's kitchen on the counter. Emily remembered that it was the poem mom had planned to read on "Dial a Devotion" the day after dad passed away in 2000. Mom never read it that day but someone read it for her. We are going to include this poem in mom's service program.
I also picked this butterfly to use in the program. It was painted by my sister in law, Nancy. Butterflies are dear to me since losing my father. A symbol of new life.
Me with my mom & dad.. now my 2 butterfly angels.
This has always been a favorite photo of mine. It was taken soon after I moved to Phoenix. My dad and I had towed this small motor boat from Iowa to Arizona. It was about the size of a large bathtub. The boat lasted a little while...long enough to have some fun on the lakes in the desert. :-)
Everything you planned for your mother's service was wonderful...love the picture of you and your parents!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen. It was an honor to choose songs, flowers, and more to bring the service together... along with help from other dear family. It was a beautiful service.
