Martin: A thin strip of land designated as the Port Campbell National Park, named after the town situated in the middle of it, then snakes its way along the coast for about twenty kms. The limestone and sandstone cliffs of this park contain interesting formations including the Twelve Apostles – solitary stacks up to about 50m high, left behind by the erosion of the coast. The rock is so soft and the erosion so harsh from the pounding of the Southern Ocean in this location that there are only six apostles remaining since they were first named. Numerous large caves have also been formed and these have eroded right through the headlands in some places to form arches.
