Grand Canyon trip part 2 (part 1 posted yesterday). You can click on any photo to enlarge & scroll through the photos this way too.
Me: Back to that bridge…
Here's a view of the Willie Wonka chocolate river we're crossing. If only it were REAL chocolate!! Mmm. :-)
And here's a fun photo of April taking a selfie on the bridge while Bob's taking another group selfie behind her (his selfie is the pic I posted at the top). Love this picture!
So why DID the hikers cross the bridge?...
To get our aching feet in the cold Colorado River & have some lunch on the beach! (and yes, to get to the other side).
"Hungry Warriors" = more food & more yoga poses.
Mike & Abbie soaking their feet while they lovingly cradle their SUB. haha.
April and Jason. Cute couple!
After hanging here for a while we walked to Phantom Ranch (a camping village with tent sites, cabins, ranger station, mule corrals plus a canteen where you can buy lemonade, snickers and postcards). We sent some postcards stamped "Mailed by Mule Train from Phantom Ranch, Grand Canyon". Fun tradition.
The hike out (9 miles) was expectedly hard and a bit hot. We all put our heads down and kept our focus for the top. Not one photo was taken going up the trail (except this one near the top warning hikers NOT to hike to the Colorado River and back in one day). We seem to ignore this warning every time we visit.
TOP of the Bright Angel Trail, South Rim. We made it! 19 miles total and out of the canyon by 2:30pm.
"Hungry Warriors" dirty shoes with sore feet inside.
Adios Grand Canyon. It was a GRAND adventure with a special group of family & friends!
All I can say "You guys are tougher than your Ohio friends". We could never done what you did....sore feet = unhappy body! Thanks for sharing your pics!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen! You two do a great job of doing fun adventures with lots of sight seeing!
