11-11-13

Me: Spectacular sunrise on our drive to 4 Peaks yesterday!
There is 4 Peaks! We hiked to the tallest peak of the 4 (the far left one)
Our crew at the trailhead: Rich, Rhonda, Angel, Abbie, Mike and Bob. Rhonda and Angel are Abbie's friends from work.
2 miles into the hike and we're at the saddle. There's the peak glowing in the sun.
So we kept hiking.
And then climbing (using all fours).
It was steep!
REALLY steep!
We took our time and were careful (thanks to the guys for helping the girls out!)
Then we popped out at the top.
All of us so excited we made it! And WOW, what a view!
It was a beautiful clear day. You could even see the mountains of Flagstaff!
Roosevelt Lake to the east.
Hung out at the top and enjoyed our lunches.
Happy hikers.
You can see 4 Peaks from anywhere in the valley. At 7,600 feet it will sometimes get snow. Now fun to say we've been on top of it. :-)
4 Peaks trailhead is a little over 2 hours from our house. The 10 miles of steep and narrow dirt road keeps the crowds away. Can you see Bob in this photo?
Time to head back down.
We went down the same way we came up: carefully! :-)
Success! An awesome day!
Congratulations 4 Peakers!

  2. I think going up was more sketchy. The other girls thought going down was harder. :-)
