Me: My niece and her three kids drove from Denver yesterday and are camping two nights with me. We played games by the river!
We visited the maintained ghost town of Vicksburg (just a mile up the road from our campsite). Vicksburg is an old mining town of 600 that used to have 2 saloons, a school, a hotel and a mainstreet called Broadway lined with cute little cabins and big trees.
Many of the homes maintained lovely gardens and there was still plenty of rhubard growing in them today. My mom would love to pick it all. Danielle and Tyler are standing on Broadway Street.
Then it was off to the baby forest to show Rich. We saw it last year and it's still creepy this year. :-) Nearly 100 naked baby dolls hanging from the trees. Hmmm. ;-/
After that is was off to Leadville to walk the town, eat ice cream and take a cute photo in front of my favorite blue building.
Back at camp we roasted marshmallows (Tyler likes the blackened kind, ha). And did some hula hooping around the campfire.
We also celebrated Danielle's 40th birthday which was TODAY! It was nice to have a day off the hiking legs and spend time with my awesome niece and wonderful great nieces and nephew!
Sounds like the perfect day with your niece and greats...I remember the pic of the babies and blue building from last year...Have fun with Bob!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Karen! We all got in a ride this morning but then the rain came (like it has every afternoon/evening). Normal July mountain weather.
