Me: I started a 4 week on-line photography class. Part of the first assignment is playing with aperture and ISO while taking a pic of a flower, leaf or plant. So, here's a photo of our Golden Barrel.

Me: Leftover water from yesterday's rain made parts of our ride today interesting. 20 cyclists from Team Vitesse made it through this section just fine. It was actually a nice morning to go around the mountain!

9-27-14

Me: Friend, Deidre and I joined Janna at a Beach Body rally this afternoon. Janna is a coach for Beach Body so we got in on a fitness class & found out what's new in DVD workout programs. Beach Body puts out P90X, Insanity, PiYo & the 21 Day Fix to name a few. While we were inside jam'n, Bob was at home rescuing flying umbrellas and patio cushions. Another rain storm blew threw the valley today.

The storm made driving home from Scottsdale a little difficult (Arizona roads just don't drain well). I got home safely & later did some yard clean up once the rain stopped. Good news: Only one broken umbrella & no roof leaks!

Me: Yesterday (9/25) was Anna's birthday. A few of us had a spa day with her; massages & facials at the Valley Ho Resort. Then her boyfriend, Clint and more friends joined her for dinner at the Saguaro Hotel followed by cowboy night with live music at the Rusty Spur bar. It was super fun joint in old town Scottsdale. Mostly we danced and enjoyed the music until...

Clint joined the band to play the harmonica (he's good & actually used to play with this band). Anna was pulled up on stage by the lead singer to play the tambourine and she was jamming it. Half way through the song Clint started talking on the microphone to Anna, saying how much he loves her and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. THEN, Clint got down on one knee and proposed! "Will you marry me, Anna?!"…………. "YES!" Anna screamed & everyone when crazy. I did not know this was going to happen but a few friends did who helped to plan the night. It was a crazy fun proposal and surprised Anna. Despite them talking about marriage a lot she did not think it was coming then. Congratulations, Anna & Clint!!!! :-)

Me: Early morning hike up Camelback Mountain with friends, Anna & Jenn. Fun, fun!

Bob is still in Dallas and went dove hunting with his friend, Chris.

Bob didn't want to kill any doves, he just went along with Chris & Ed (who got 12). They clean, freeze and cook 'em later. Anyone eaten dove before?

PS: Today's hike time: 26 min 33 sec. (a bit better than last time). :-)

Me: Bob's feet in Dallas, TXd. He's on reserve & hasn't had a trip assigned for a couple days. So Bob's been hanging out a bit with his host family/friends, done some biking & working out at Lifetime Fitness (plus relaxing pool side). Nice perks to his job!

Me: Saw this on Pinterest and liked it. It's pretty true for me! I've always loved sports, exercise & adventure and somehow doing those things (sometimes to exhaustion) is relaxing. The best part of my day!

Me: Around the mountain ride with Team Vitesse. 45 miles & cloudy.

On my way over to meet Vitesse I saw two Javelina. This one was limping and couldn't keep up with the other. :-( Wished I could have helped the little guy.

Me: Partied out!

Harley, Bob & I taking a nap. Recovering after we hosted our 1st house party last night.

The last few days we've been getting our house & yard ready to have friends over.  

We ordered pizza, salad & had a few appetizers & deserts ready. It was a BYOB & many brought snacks to share too.

Earlier this week we planted some cactus & moved rock to our entry area. I like the improvement!

Grass mowed & games out; Bean Bags, Giant Jenga, & Bocce Ball.

At 5 o'clock the party started. We had a wonderful time hanging out with old friends, new friends & family!!

Of our 65 guests several brought their kids who played hard in the pool. I only regret not getting photos of all the activity.

Me: The caterpillars are out...

in droves! They were all over the trail this morning. 

Harley was interested in them until she had a taste and spit it out. Apparently caterpillars are not yummy.

Me: Today Jens Voigt went for the 1 hour cycling world record. And he got it!!

He went 51 km in 60 minutes in the Velodrome!

Bob & I watched it live on-line and were excited about his record. We're a big fan of Jens who just retired last week from professional cycling. Bob has admired Jens for years, following many of his races & interviews. It was last year that Bob celebrated his birthday with Jens (see pic above & blog post on 8-15-13).  In Bob's words…"It was thee best birthday!" We had the pleasure biking with Jens and then hanging out with him at a mutual friend's home in Tahoe. What a special day that was for Bob (& me too)!

Martin: Close up of the tile in our bath.

Me: Bob brought home some lovely Knick Knacks from his mom last week. These two little blue birds. They are so pretty!

They fit nicely on top of our kitchen hutch along with so many other knick knacks passed down from our parents and grandparents.

Bob's mom also sent back this pretty blue glass basket (on the top shelf) and the blue bowl with matching painted flower on the bottom shelf. I really love these pieces too!

 Thank you, Pat & Bob! They are beautiful and fit right in.

It's a good thing we have a kitchen hutch & 2 curio cabinets for our treasures.

Holding memories that make me smile. :-)
