Me: Happy May Day!

Mom and I used to make May Baskets when I was a kid. We'd decorate milk cartons, fill them with caramel corn, candy and flowers (lilacs) and then deliver them to our neighbors, friends and family. Proper delivery is to drop them at the front door, ring the doorbell and then run away before they see who it's from. This tradition might be a midwest thing 'cause Bob hadn't heard of it and neither had Martin. So, I made a May Basket today (Bob and Harley helped).  Happy May Day!

  1. Jane - Your May basket looks beautiful. It might be an Iowa thing because I never heard of this in Ohio. It might be something we should start.

  2. Thanks, Karen. My sister said May Day is a Scandinavian tradition. The community I grew up in is Danish so that explains it. It was such a fun thing to do as a kid. Yes, I think we should restart the tradition!
