Today we did a bike/hike/bike outing to the top of Freel Peak.
Bob riding up the Tahoe Rim Trail (hiking shoes are in our packs).
After 12 miles we reached Freel Saddle. We put on our tennis shoes, left the bikes & hiked a steep trail another 1,000 feet up to the top of Freel Peak.
Standing on Freel Peak Summit: 10,881'
Freel Peak is the tallest mountain in the Tahoe Basin. It gave us a great perspective of Lake Tahoe & so many other peaks, lakes & trails.
Back down the path to get on the bikes.
Found the bikes & some snow....only a few small patches remain.
A little break before riding down the mountain.
7 hours on the trails biking, hiking & biking. We were pretty beat once back to the cabin! We showered & went out for Halibut at The Fresh Ketch (a local fav restaurant). Two thumbs up!

Home Sweet Cabin!
I'm back in Tahoe with my peeps...Bob & Harley. So happy to see them! Today was low-key & restful...I needed it after a whirlwind 5 days & Bob did too after his work week. The 3 of us curled up for a long summer's nap.

Happy 4th of July!!
LOVE this photo of Riley! Photo credit to my niece, Jaime...such a great pic!
The 4th of July started out with the traditional kids races in Exira.
Caedrian is in the middle (red flag t-shirt) & Judson is in black. Kavan is behind Caedrian.
Kasen & Cooper holding hands while they run their race. Too cute!!
Even the big kids raced...including me, a few siblings, several older nieces & nephews & yep...even mom!!
Here is mom winning her age division! She really was running...so impressed, mom!!
Mom collecting her blue ribbon plus $5 cash.
Mom said afterwards..."I think I could have gone faster!!" :-)
After the races we had a long line of kids & grown-ups lining the parade route. Left end of pic is April & right end of pic is Dean with everyone else is in-between.
Danielle, Me & Dawn waiting for the parade candy.
PS: Danielle & Dawn are sisters & my 2 oldest nieces. We grew up together...just 1 mile apart (Elk Horn, IA).
The professional candy catchers! Alice, Clara & Ada Jane. Alice is Dawn & Thomas's oldest daughter (West Chester, PA). Clara & Ada belong to Owen & Leah (Byron, MN).

All race photos were snagged from Jaime (thx again). She had more great pics & maybe I'll get a few more posted later. With Jaime click'n pics I took very few all weekend. It was a wonderful Iowa trip filled with a Friday wedding, Saturday birthday & picnic, Sunday Jacobsen family reunion & Monday 4th of July festivities. Only wish that Bob could have been with me for the fun.

So glad these photos were captured at the HOEGH picnic on 7/2/16. Thank you, Jaime for taking them & so many other pics of the day! PS: The family picnic was held in Orange City at a park near Jerod & Aubyn's home. Jacey & Whitney had taken off for their Florida honeymoon but the rest of the family in town climbed the jungle gym, visited, played sand volleyball & enjoyed a great picnic lunch (thanks Brent & Nancy). We also celebrated several family birthdays including mom's 89th which was June 15th.

Jerome & Ashley's last day in Tahoe was on June 18th. We chose to hike to Angora Lake. Never pass up their fresh squeezed lemonade...it's famous & so good!
Paddle boarding time! Angora Lake is a special place & one of the prettiest little mountain lakes!
Throw Back; This is a photo of Ashley 2 years ago when she & Jerome were at Angora Lake. Ashley was 7 months pregnant with Kennley. GREAT photo!
We attempted to take a similar pic of Ashley this year. :-)
Bob & I taking a spin on the boards. Plus a dip in the cold water was refreshing!
June 12-18 was packed full of adventure & fun with these two! So glad they made the trip to Tahoe to hang out, rock climb, hike, bike & more! Great memories!!
