Martin: Another weather report. Had a thunderstorm start up at four in the morning. The cat went bananas.
Me: Home again. Harley and I took a sunset walk and now we're watching the new season of Dancing with the Stars!

Martin: We bought another water bottle for the fridge.

PS: Bob and I brought 2 of these water bottles home from Australia.
We love using them in our fridge!
Me: Today we spent time with more Denver family. My nephews Jake and Matt and Matt's wife Kim live near downtown. Matt moved here a year ago for his residency and Jake moved here about 6 months ago. Bob and I enjoyed catching up with the 3 of them over a bagel at Moe's.
This afternoon we went to Brooke's basketball game. She's on a talented team of 4th graders and they were fun to watch. We also went to Octoberfest (in September?), and were spectators for Brooke, Ashley and Tyler's magic show!

Tonight Bob and I had dinner with friends, Beth, Julio and their 8 year old, Shayna. We met them on our China trip and since they live close to Danielle and Mike we were able to see them too. Julio is an amazing chef and made us a delicious meal at their home. Shayna performed some gymnastics - she's talented too! Great to see them.

Anna and Rich left town this morning and Bob and I take off tomorrow. We had a great weekend hiking and hanging out. Much thanks to Danielle and Mike for being "base camp" for our crew!

Me: Success! Gray's Peak Summit. 14,270 ft.
Bob, me, Danielle, Dana
It stopped raining long enough for the 6 of us to attempt and conquer two 14'ers (Grays & Torreys) today. So fun that our nieces, Danielle and Dana did the trek too!

PS: Details & more pics of Grays & Torreys to come.

9-13-13

Me: Friday the 13th...
Rich & Anna met us in Denver yesterday and we're all staying at Danielle (niece) & Mike's home in Highlands Ranch. We planned this trip intending to hike four 14'ers in 2 days.
Chances were slim that we'd summit Mt. Evans today (just turn on the TV to hear about the terrible flooding around Denver & Boulder) but we set out for the trailhead anyway. Up at 4:30am & driving by 5:15am. What normally would be a 40 minute drive to Mt. Evans turned into 4 hours in the car with continuous rain, closed freeways, mud slides, detours and flooding rivers.

We never made it to the trailhead since we came to our senses and turned around.
Instead we went to a movie (it was bad, don't see The Family), had lunch in downtown Littleton (that was yummy) and roamed the antique stores.
Though I'm not superstitious about Friday the 13th, this date literally held a cloud over our adventure. Forecast for Saturday the 14th is looking much better.

Me: Short bike outing this morning before Bob and I headed to the airport. We are in Denver now (where it's raining cats and dogs) until Monday. Will update when possible.

9-11-13

Me: What's going on here?
1) I'm tired and laying on the couch with my laptop.
2) Bob's really tired and sleeping on the couch to my right (it's 6pm).
3) Harley's not tired and is hinting big time that she should be taken for a walk.
4) Garage sale Elvis and Marilyn (from ROSS) make the TV room wall.

Me: While Bob was looking at stainless steel Lamborghinis...
I was looking at mid-century light fixtures.
Maybe this one for our stairwell. Kinda fun!
This would be cute in our new Audrey bathroom.
I liked this groovy hanging lamp.
Possibly this one in our office?
I didn't buy any of them...today. :-)
