9-4-11

Martin: Daniel found this baby Lorikeet after school on Friday and brought it home as he couldn't see an adult Lorikeet around and there was a crow taking an interest in the little guy. Next morning, I took him to a local vet who was going to check him out before passing the bird onto 'Wires', a voluntary group who collect injured native animals and birds. They will take care of the bird until he is old enough to look after himself and then he will be released.
Me: Bob and I spent this evening with my sister, Joan and her husband Dean. We enjoyed a nice dinner and pool time together at their place in Superstition Mountain.

Martin: Adrian is building a 1/350 model of the USS Missouri BB-63 inbetween studying for his school exams. Good excuse to avoid studying but better than playing computer games. He just finished spraying the hull.
Me: Our sunburned roses. Despite our best efforts all summer to give our rose bushes extra water everyday, they have still turned brown and wilted. Believing that when the weather turns cooler we can prune them way back and they'll come back big and beautiful again.

9-2-11

Martin: Sun trying to break through from the back garden after a passing storm, late afternoon. Some hail fell as well.

Me: Bought two 1/2 wine barrels today. We're going to plant a few things in them once the weather cools off. I've never had a garden before so I'm excited to see if we can get some veggies to grow.

9-1-11

Martin: Pollen count starting to rise in the back garden, as well as the number of bees about.
Me:  Happy Harley after our evening walk. We waited until dusk so it was only 105 out. We are a bit tired of this long lasting heat!

8-31-11

Me: The boys were trying time exposures on the camera outside at night while "writing" out their signature in the air using the torch light on their mobile phone.

Me: Picture Project

Pulled these boxes out of storage today. They are all FULL of photos. Old photos, really old photos, picture albums, year books, newspaper clippings, and other memorabilia that we've held onto for years. My project is for us to sort, condense, save the good things but also eliminate the unnecessary as best as possible. It's a lot of stuff and it's hard to throw away much of it.
Does this mean I'm a hoarder?

Martin: First flowering of a young protea in a friend's garden.
Me: That's me lifting weights. My parents started me young.
