Martin: This is what the old quarter is like in any Spanish city. Miles of alleys to explore and you never know what you will discover.
Me: Bob "hearts" me! :-)

Today's theme word: HEART <3

Martin: Adrian and Daniel with a few of their Spanish cousins.
Today's theme word was "SWEET" so I posted the "Sweet" rainbow pic for class. :-)
Check out these jelly fish. I'm not a fan but they sure look cool!

One of yesterday's highlights was going to the Monterey Aquarium. This place is amazing & huge (it was an old sardine canning company). It's filled with interesting sea creatures…Sardines, Squid, Sharks, Jelly Fish, Otters and more!
This giant Octopus was fun to watch. He (or she) crawled all over the glass for everyone to see.Check out these jelly fish. I'm not a fan but they sure look cool!
Can we take this otter home?! He was chill, just taking a nap while floating on his back. He had 6 pack abs too (jealous!).
We're flying back to Phoenix this morning. It was a quick trip but the travel was really slick. We packed in some awesome stuff & look forward to returning to Monterey (hopefully soon). Thanks for such a wonderful time & congrats on your new home away from home. It's just perfect!
PS: Happy Birthday, Rod!

Martin: Wonder who came up with this great decorating idea.
Me: Today's theme word was RED. So this morning (in the rain) the girls, Bob & I went walking around town in search of red. We were pretty happy to be under the RED umbrella in front of the RED Canning Company with a painted RED curb too. :-)
Nice work girls!
The girls led us on the Coastal Trail from Monterey to Pacific Grove. We stopped along the way to observe the Harbor Seals relaxing on the beach.
They were cute and tired.
It rained most of the day with short breaks of sunshine.
Beautiful day!
We also stopped at THEE best shoppe. Such pretty & clever items. I love these windows with glass dishes glued to the window pane. M & Rod bought the square one behind the wind chimes shown in this pic. It looks amazing in their kitchen window. LOVE it! I am determined to make one of these decorative hangings with the old windows & glass dishes we have. :-)
After breakfast at Toasties we were off on our photo spree. Rod & Bob were our drivers and Ro & Ree were our cheerleaders while M & I braved the storm. I am clutching the umbrella while M gets a good photo of the restless sea. The wind was nuts!
Pebble Beach shore along 17 mile drive.
Lone Cypress
After the rain…the rainbow!
Ahhh :-)
A couple more RED pics from our day...
A RED cracked pot :-) with a RED cacti. Photo by M that she took in a local garden.
RED flag on Pebble Beach golf course. Taken by me in driving rain & gusty winds.
Fun time with M taking photos & practicing our camera apps.
A few more pics tomorrow from today...

Martin: Copies of the old tin advertising signs.
Me: Today's photo theme word: Minimalist.
So this photo is straight out of the camera, no crop, no filter, no edits (minimalist work). :-)
Cacti are starting to bloom in Arizona!

Today we flew to CA to spend a couple days with Bob's sister & family at their beach house in Monterey!
Forecast for the weekend was rain so M, Ro & Ree took us right to the beach so we could play outside under blue skies!
Fun for Bob to spend time with his sister!
It also gave the little girls a chance to climb on the rocks while the big girls (M & I) practiced some picture click'n. Both of us are taking the iPhone camera class & this weekend was planned to include a photo spree on the coast.
By the way…this is the beach where M & Rod were married in 2003. It was a beautiful wedding on Asilomar Beach!
Here's my pic of "The Dejected Surfer".
Chin up buddy, there is always tomorrow!
Tonight we ate at The Fish Hopper on Cannery Row. We had an ocean view in their restaurant & by dinner time Rod joined us (he had just landed from spending a week in India). Great first day in CA!
PS: We just LOVE M & Rod's new Monterey house. It's up on a hill with views of the ocean. Light & bright & really cute!

Me: "Tiny changes today can make a big difference tomorrow."
In honor of my dad who made a difference! The tiny Waterford butterfly is from Ireland. We brought it back as a reminder of my dad who passed away that year (2000).
Butterfly: New Life.
