Me: Mountain Biking our favorite trails: The Flume and Marlett Peak.

View of Lake Tahoe along our climb.
At the top of Marlett Peak with views of Marlett Lake and Lake Tahoe.
Go Bob.
Gorgeous!
We started the morning with Bob, Anna, Troy and I.
Then met up with these guys.
One of the riders was Frank Schleck, pro cyclist from Luxembourg. Podium finisher in the Tour de France and winner of an Alpe d'huez stage.
A little fishing at Marlett Lake. No catches but we did see a bald eagle fly overhead!
On to the Flume Trail. Narrow single track with amazing lake views.
It was such a beautiful day - thus the million photos. :-)
Troy, Frank, Bob and Max.
 Juan & Christian.
Lov'n it.

Finished the ride at Tunnel Creek Station (owned by Max) for some cold Gatorade.
Back to Troy's for some swimming, beach time,
 and boating.
Speed boating!

Thanks for the thrilling ride, Troy!
The day ender was a Lobster feast! Wow, we ate like kings!
What a fabulous day!!!

Me: Our good friend, Anna arrived in Tahoe today. :-)
And so did our good friend, Troy! We hung out all day at Troy's dad's place in Incline Village (north shore of Lake Tahoe).
The 5 acre property is amazing with gorgeous views of the Lake.
And it has the best beach front we've ever seen.
We paddle boarded (I needed the practice :-) and played volleyball in the afternoon.
Sunset dinner: Fillet and shrimp with strawberry cheesecake for dessert (yum).
So fun to see our Phoenix friends! Troy's hosting us for the next three days and he has some really fun activities planned. Thank you, Troy!

Me: We are still not feeling great but did go to Regan Beach today.
Even used the garage sale raft. Harley knew what to do and jumped right in. :-)
It was windy and rough so we didn't go far. Just long enough to get wet from the waves.

July 2013 Jacobsen Reunion in Elk Horn Park, Iowa.
All the children of James & Mayme Jacobsen: Sonja, Mary, Janet, Mom, Warren.
Warren is the oldest, then mom, Janet, Mary and Sonja.

Tonight I found out that my uncle Warren (mom's brother) passed away this afternoon. I'm very sad to hear this news as he was a special person. Uncle "Waz" was a strong farmer and a community man his whole life; instrumental in bringing Elk Horn to a popular Danish tourist stop. He helped with the windmill that was shipped from Denmark and rebuilt in Elk Horn (1976) as well as getting the Danish Museum established in town. Warren was always involved with school, sports, town festivals and supporting local businesses. He was a man of faith, active in church and displayed his christianity boldly but humbly. He had the most contagious smile (reminds me of my dad that way) and brought light into every room he entered. He knew everyone it seemed and made all those who knew him feel special. He had a razor sharp memory and knew immediate & extended family's whereabouts and what they did.  Warren was genuinely interested and proud of his family, friends and community. He will join in heaven his wife Gudren (who passed away last year), his daughter Gwen who died of cancer a few years ago and his son, Dean who died 12 years ago at age 52.

Warren's other daughter, Paulette was with him during this past week. My mom had just had a nice visit with him on Friday for which she is so thankful. We all rejoice in the wonderful life he had and that he is happy in heaven now. He has many grand-children and great-grand children that will carry on his amazing spirit.

You will be missed, Uncle Warren!
I took this photo off my cousin, Paulette's Facebook page. This is Paulette's wedding day as she is about to be walked down the aisle by her dad (Warren). Love this photo.

Me: Well, things went south last night. Around bedtime I was feeling really awful. Within a couple hours I was vomiting and had a very high fever with terrible aches plus a headache. Bob's been fighting off a sore throat and cold the last two days so he's not doing much better. Today I've been in bed and nibbling on jello and crackers. Bob's been on the couch coughing. Ugh. :-( Hoping tomorrow is better.

I realized when entering today's date (August 11th) that it was 13 years ago that my dad passed away. Of course he is still missed and I have the fondest of memories of a wonderful father in my life.

Me: 8:00am and we were off to the weekend Flea Market and garage sales. Bought a kangaroo coffee cup (in honor of Australia) and a soap dish for our AZ guest bath at the Flea Market. Found 2 inflatable rafts at a garage sale and later some paddles at a thrift store. Hope to try them out on the Upper Truckee River this week.
Bob Sr. took us to a nice walking path; Rainbow Trail where you can see trout and other fish in an underwater viewing chamber.
A lovely day with nice views!
Tippy is now a water dog!
Tired Tippy on the drive back to the cabin. All that playing wore her out.
Hard working Harley went with Bob to the local hardware store to get some new blinds for the cabin. She takes her jobs seriously.

This evening we had another occasion to celebrate:  Bob's birthday - August 15. Bob's parents treated at The Getaway. It's a cute little restaurant in Meyers. Happy early birthday wishes to Bob!

Me: Look who arrived! Tippy Canoe; Harley's Aunt from Los Altos Hills. Tippy, Pat and Bob are here for the weekend. Yay!
We hung out on the deck and watched cute fluffy Tippy play while Harley tolerated her shenanigans. "Puppies these days!" says 8 year old Harley. :-) Actually they got along beautifully and are great pals.
We took the dogs for a stroll on Keys Beach.
It was Tippy's first experience with water. So funny when she surprised herself getting in a bit deep.
Fun with the family.
"Um, where's that Tippy pup?"
Ended the evening eating at The Beacon. Pat and Bob took us out to celebrate our 14 year anniversary (August 28th). It was 14 years ago that we had our rehearsal dinner at The Beacon and sat out on the deck with this same gorgeous view!
