 Me: Riding up the old Truckee Creek Road.

 to Hope Valley; one of our favorite spots.

 Stopped at Hope Valley Pie Shop. Pecan/apricot was delicious! 

 El Dorado Beach.

 We signed up for the Wednesday night paddle board race at El Dorado. We basically found out we are NOT fast. In a field of about 70 I think I came in 65th place. Ugh. Bob was a bit better, more around 55th. Took us about an hour to finish the course (top racers were 30 minutes).

 Had a good time laughing at ourselves. PS: I'm not posting the photo of me nearly taking a 5 year old out trying to beat him to the finish. :-)

Our $35 entry fee got us the board rental, upper body workout, dinner on the beach, and raffle tickets. Bob won a paddle cover. It's really nice, but what will we do with it?

Me: Day one in Tahoe and we are in our old mountain routine again (& that's a great thing)!

We leisurely got up, had breakfast and hiked the trails behind the cabin. The cool, crisp air felt fantastic! Then we were off to "our gym": Sierra Athletic Club. When we have extended stays in Tahoe we buy a short term membership there. It's nice to pop in to lift weights and see some local friends.

Lunch at a favorite joint (Tahoe Keys Cafe) where we also set up a temporary office for a couple hours.

Of course thrift store shopping is in our routine. Add in some beach time where Harley ran in the sand and played in the water. Just a great day all around!

Me: Made it to the cabin around noon today, unpacked and took a nap. Harley, worn out from 2 days in the car, stared out the cabin window with a long face.

She perked right up when we took her to the beach though.

 The odd looking cloud from a near by fire made for a pretty sunset.

Happy to be in Tahoe!

Me: While Bob was flying to Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica, and Atlanta...Harley and I were home packing up bikes, hiking gear, clothes, and dog food. Bob left Miami this afternoon (in a plane)...

and Harley and I left Phoenix this afternoon (in our 4-Runner). We all met in Los Angeles when we picked up Bob from the LAX airport. Found a Motel 6 just north of the city and tomorrow we'll drive the rest of the way to Tahoe. Looking forward to spending a month at the cabin, seeing family, friends and enjoying the pine trees and beautiful Lake Tahoe!

Me: Wendy and I went to a friend of a friend's art show tonight.

The artist lives in Ahwatukee and regularly hikes South Mountain.

 I really liked her work!

Many of her paintings reminded my of my cactus photo cards.

Glad we went to her show.

Me: Harley showing the flooring she picked out for the upstairs guest bathroom. White octogon tiles with smaller square tile inserts. Planning to use a grey grout.

I'm excited - it's retro, clean and fun.

Me: Kavan and I hang'n out yesterday. He's gonna be a big brother in one month. Janna and Andrew are expecting a baby girl the 1st week of September.
